2026 Girls Lacrosse Tryout Calendar on LI
Fall 2026 tryouts: July–August 2026 for most clubs. Fall is increasingly important — clubs use it to assess new players before committing to spring rosters.
Spring 2026 tryouts: November–December 2025 for the primary competitive spring season.

What Girls Lacrosse Coaches Look For
Stick skills: Dominant hand is expected to be solid. Coaches pay close attention to non-dominant hand. Practice catching and throwing left and right daily.
Field vision: Girls lacrosse moves fast. Players who see the field — who spot cutting teammates, who understand space — stand out at any age.
Work rate: Coaches notice players who sprint everywhere, back-check, and compete on every possession regardless of score.
Shooting: A player who can shoot with power and accuracy on the run is in high demand at every club.
Attitude: Coaches consistently say a player's response to coaching (positive, coachable, no eye-rolling) is weighted heavily in final decisions.
